Hastings Senior Health & Living Celebrates Positive Survey Results in 2026

Hastings Senior Health & Living earned a deficiency-free survey from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) in summer 2026. The results demonstrate compliance with federal and state standards for resident care, safety, and quality.

The survey followed a comprehensive review of the care and services provided at Hastings Senior Health & Living in Hastings, Minnesota.

Nursing homes must comply with federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements to receive payment under Medicare or Medicaid programs. The state completes regular, unannounced surveys to ensure settings remain in compliance with regulations and provide safe, quality care.

MDH surveyors evaluated the processes, procedures, general operations and physical plants, as well as information submitted by Hastings Senior Health & Living staff. Surveyors also interviewed staff, residents and family members of residents to gain perspective on the care provided at the community.

A deficiency-free survey indicates that surveyors found the skilled nursing community met applicable federal and state requirements at the time of the review.

State surveys provide an independent assessment of how nursing homes are operating and caring for residents. For residents and families, deficiency-free results can offer added confidence that a community is meeting established standards related to care, safety, and quality.

While no single measure tells the full story of a senior living community, survey results are one important factor families may consider when evaluating skilled nursing care options.

According to Administrator Kim Szymanski, the achievement reflects a shared commitment throughout the community.

“I am very proud of our team,” Kim says. “Achieving a deficiency-free survey is the result of a shared commitment to excellence, strong daily habits, and serving our residents with compassion, respect, and purpose. This recognition reflects the dedication of our staff and the exceptional care and services they provide to our residents and families every day.”

The deficiency-free survey builds on other recent recognitions for this community.

The community was ranked No. 2 for Minnesota nursing homes with 50 to 99 beds on Newsweek’s Best Nursing Homes in America list in 2026.

Together, these recognitions highlight this community’s longstanding commitment to quality care and service for older adults.

In addition to skilled nursing long-term care, Hastings Senior Health & Living offers independent living, assisted living, memory care, and short-term rehabilitation.
